11 students fall into septic tank in rush to see President Ruto

In an unfortunate incident at Kapsabet School for the Deaf on Thursday morning, 11 students plunged into a collapsed septic tank while rushing to catch a glimpse of President William Ruto's passing motorcade.
The eager learners had climbed onto the cover of an old, roughly 20-foot-long septic tank located within the school grounds, but the structure could not support their weight and suddenly gave way, sending them tumbling into the waste below.
Emergency responders, including officers from the county disaster management unit, swiftly arrived to rescue the trapped students. All 11 suffered injuries during the fall and were immediately transported to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital for urgent medical care. Among those who attended the scene early was Kapsabet County Executive Committee Member Angeline Kirui, who confirmed the details surrounding the mishap.
After being informed of the incident, President Ruto made an unscheduled stop at the school to convey his sympathies and express deep regret over what had occurred. He pledged Ksh. 5 million to aid in upgrading the institution's infrastructure before proceeding to his planned event at Kapsabet Girls.
