15 Kenyans Rescued from Iran Arrive Safely at JKIA

Fifteen Kenyan nationals who were stranded in Iran amid the escalating Middle East conflict have been successfully rescued and landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
The group, which included several children, was brought home through a coordinated government operation involving a transit stop in Türkiye. Their arrival on Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, sparked emotional reunions with family members who had waited anxiously at the airport.
Upon touching down, the returnees were received by officials from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs. They received immediate debriefing and on-the-spot psychosocial support to help them process the traumatic experiences and uncertainties faced during the crisis. This comprehensive care reflects the government’s dedication to the full well-being of its citizens, combining physical safety with essential mental and emotional recovery assistance.
The smooth rescue mission has been welcomed as a strong example of Kenya’s diplomatic readiness and commitment to protecting its nationals abroad during international emergencies. Authorities continue to closely monitor developments in the volatile Middle East region, with contingency plans ready should more Kenyans require help. Families and the public have expressed appreciation for the swift response, while the operation highlights the growing importance of proactive emergency measures in an unpredictable global landscape. The rescued individuals are now set to reintegrate into their communities with ongoing support where necessary.
