Police in Nyamira County have launched an inquiry into the apparent suicide of an 18-year-old female university student found dead at her family home. The incident occurred in Ogingo village, Kitutu Masaba Constituency, where the young woman's body was discovered hanging behind the residence.
The deceased, a first-year Business Administration student at Maseno University, had returned home the previous day after completing an examination at school. Her parents, James Mogaka Odhiambo and Vickline Moraa Mogaka, had briefly left the house to attend a funeral and only made the heartbreaking discovery upon their return in the evening. According to the family, the student had shown no visible signs of distress or any indication of personal struggles prior to the incident.
Authorities promptly responded to the scene, with officers transferring the body to Nyamira County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death, seeking to understand what may have led to this sudden and devastating event.
