All Set for Highly Anticipated Majembe vs Mbavu Destroyer Boxing Clash
Excitement is building across Kenya as two popular amateur boxers prepare to face off in a much-talked-about bout.
Portifas Odipo, better known as Majembe, will take on Weka Mawe, famously called Mbavu Destroyer, in the main event of Vurugu Fight Night. The clash is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.
Both fighters gained massive popularity after their videos went viral on social media, turning them into household names among boxing fans. The rivalry has generated a lot of buzz, with fans eagerly picking sides and looking forward to an action-packed fight. The event is being organised by comedian and digital creator Oga Obinna, who has worked hard to make it a memorable night for Kenyan sports entertainment.
Several prominent figures have shown support for the fight. President William Ruto contributed Ksh 1 million each for the fighters’ training and provided 2,000 free tickets. Other sponsors include Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri, businessman Oketch Salah, and Pastor Dorcas Rigathi. A Toyota Noah vehicle has also been pledged as a special prize for the winner. With lively commentary expected from DJ Afro, the event promises to deliver high energy and entertainment for fans at the arena and those watching from home.
