Amisi Insists He Remains in Linda Mwananchi
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has firmly rejected reports suggesting he has left the Linda Mwananchi movement.
In a recent podcast interview, the lawmaker stated that he continues to form part of the group led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and described the outfit as something he created from the start. He emphasised his ongoing commitment despite recent speculation about his future political path.
Amisi went further by claiming ownership of the idea behind the movement. “First of all, there is a misconception that I left Linda Mwananchi. I am still part and parcel of the movement. It is my baby. I have always said that I am the founder. People think I am joking until they realise it is actually true. I am the founder of Linda Mwananchi. Therefore, I am bound to protect it and make sure it stays true to its original vision because I originated the idea,” he said. He added that some participants had failed to grasp the true purpose, which he defined as removing President William Ruto while rejecting the old style of politics.
The MP defended his public criticisms of the movement’s current direction, explaining that as its originator he feels obliged to speak out whenever he believes it is drifting. He insisted such comments should not be read as a decision to walk away. Although he has announced plans to take up the leadership of the People’s Renaissance Movement, Amisi maintained that this new party still falls under the wider Linda Mwananchi umbrella.
He also addressed questions about his absence from recent Linda Mwananchi events, including a rally held inside his own Trans Nzoia constituency. Amisi argued that physical presence at every gathering is not necessary to remain an active member. At the same time he has voiced growing frustration, accusing the movement of abandoning its founding principles and adopting the very political habits it once opposed.
Looking ahead, Amisi indicated that his proposed Renaissance Movement would concentrate on electing a fresh generation of credible and visionary lawmakers to Parliament. He presented this as a continuation of the original struggle rather than a complete break, positioning himself as a guardian of the ideals that first inspired Linda Mwananchi while preparing a parallel platform to advance those same goals.
