Juliah Atwoli has come to the defence of her late sister-in-law, Maureen, following public remarks by her father, COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, over Maureen’s cremation.
Juliah said the decision to cremate Maureen was not imposed on her but was a choice she had made herself and clearly expressed before her death.
According to Juliah, Maureen had included her wishes in her will, making it clear that she wanted to be cremated.
She said the family should honour those wishes and allow Maureen’s final decision to be respected.
Juliah expressed disappointment that the matter had become the subject of public discussion, stressing that Maureen’s wishes should take precedence in decisions concerning her final farewell.
“Respect her wishes,” Juliah said, as she defended her sister-in-law’s decision to be cremated.
