Moody Support Base endorses Osiya ahead of 2027 Busia Governor race

,With only a few months remaining before the official campaign window opens, political realignments are beginning to take shape across Busia County.
Former Vice President Moody Awori's loyal supporters have declared their backing for the Principal Administration Secretary (PAS) Arthur Osiya in his bid for the Busia gubernatorial seat in the next General Election.
The group says the decision was driven by what they describe as years of political and development neglect under the current county administration.
Led by Hamfreys Ongaro and Sofia Moola Okech, the supporters claim they have endured more than two decades of marginalization following Moody Awori's exit from active politics, blaming the current county leadership for sidelining the region.
Speaking to the media in Funyula, the supporters expressed dissatisfaction with Governor Dr. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma's leadership, both during his tenure as Funyula MP and now as Busia Governor.
"We want leadership that brings every community together and ensures development reaches all parts of Busia equally. We are confident Arthur Osiya can provide that leadership by prioritizing unity, better infrastructure, improved healthcare, quality education and opportunities for our youth and women."
They argued that Funyula has failed to realize the level of development residents had anticipated while accusing the governor of practising divisive politics that has left sections of the constituency feeling excluded.

The group further expressed confidence that Arthur Osiya has the leadership credentials to unite the people of Busia and accelerate development across the county of elected governor.
"As people who have stood with Moody Awori for many years, we believe the time has come for a new direction. We have carefully considered the available leaders and resolved to support Arthur Osiya because we believe he has the experience, commitment, and vision to transform Busia County. Our decision is based on what we consider to be the development needs of our people."
