BMW Nabbed in Eldoret with Illicit Ethanol Worth KSh 1.5 Million

Police in Eldoret have seized hundreds of litres of illicit ethanol valued at about KSh 1.5 million after stopping a luxury BMW.
The vehicle was transporting the consignment from Bungoma to Nairobi when it was intercepted. The operation took place along the road in Uasin Gishu County on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Officers found the illegal alcohol hidden inside the car. Two suspects were arrested at the scene and are being held at Eldoret Police Station. They will be processed and taken to court soon. The ethanol is suspected to be smuggled and unfit for sale, as it lacks proper licensing and quality checks.
This latest bust highlights the ongoing fight against illicit alcohol in the country. Authorities continue to crack down on illegal brews that pose serious health risks to Kenyans. Similar cases have been reported in recent weeks, showing that smugglers are using luxury vehicles to move the dangerous cargo. The seized ethanol has been taken for destruction.
