Boy Dies After Alleged Beating by Father in Busia.

A family in Bugengi Village within Butula Constituency of Busia County is grieving the death of fourteen-year-old Elvis Odhiambo, a Grade Six pupil who allegedly succumbed to injuries after a severe beating by his father.
The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital after being rushed there in critical condition.
His mother, Gladys Adhiambo, recounted finding her son sitting on the verandah in tears shortly before his death. When she asked what was wrong, Elvis told her that his father had beaten him badly and that he was suffering intense pain in his head.
Relative Alphonce Onyango explained that the incident reportedly arose from a disagreement after the boy was ordered to collect grass thatch and refused. Onyango said he later met the father leaving the area in a hurry. “I asked him why he was in such a rush, but he ignored me and continued running,” he recalled, before arriving at the homestead to find Elvis already in a grave state.
Neighbours who responded to screams and commotion from the compound discovered the boy seriously injured and made frantic efforts to help, but those attempts proved unsuccessful. Residents further allege that the father fled the village immediately after the incident, while another person said to have been present has also disappeared.
The body has been taken to Sega Mortuary in Siaya County, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death as investigations into the tragic events continue.
