Bungoma Governor Lusaka Fires Entire Cabinet in Major Shake-Up

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dismissed his entire county cabinet with immediate effect. In a statement issued on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the governor relieved all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary of their duties. The decision was made under Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act.

Governor Lusaka explained that the move aims to improve governance, enhance service delivery, increase efficiency, and protect the integrity of county institutions. He said the changes were taken in good faith and in the interest of the people of Bungoma. The governor thanked the outgoing officials for their service and assured residents that there would be no disruption in the delivery of essential services.

Interim arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth operations while new appointments are processed according to the law. This major reshuffle comes hours after the Bungoma County Assembly held a special sitting where an impeachment motion against the County Attorney was discussed. The governor’s action has sparked discussions across the county as residents wait to see who will be appointed to the new team.
