Kabuchai Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to urgently address concerns over missing names in the voters’ register in Bungoma County.

Kalasinga, alongside a section of concerned voters, has urged IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon to intervene and ensure that all eligible voters who duly registered are accurately captured in the register.

Speaking on Tuesday, the legislator said several residents had raised concerns after discovering that their names were missing during the ongoing voter register verification exercise.

The affected voters have expressed fears that failure to resolve the discrepancies in good time could deny them an opportunity to participate in future elections.

Kalasinga called on the electoral commission to dispatch its field teams to Kabuchai and other affected areas across Bungoma County to conduct a comprehensive audit of the register and address any irregularities.

“The right to vote is constitutional. IEBC must act now before people lose confidence in the register,” he said.

The MP emphasized the need for the commission to take swift action, noting that an accurate and credible voters’ register is essential in safeguarding the democratic rights of citizens.

The concerns emerge as the IEBC continues efforts to clean up and verify the voters’ register ahead of upcoming by-elections and the 2027 General Election.

The affected voters are now calling for timely intervention by the commission to ensure that every eligible citizen is given the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
