Busia Actress Claims She Thought It Was Cold Water While Pouring It on Boyfriend.
A local actress from Busia County has come forward with a new explanation regarding the incident that left her boyfriend with severe burns after hot water was poured on him.
Mercy Odoyo, who resides in the Samaki area of Burumba Estate in Busia town, stated that she believed she was pouring cold water at the time of the incident. The event occurred on Wednesday night during a joint birthday celebration for her child and herself, as both she and her partner, Ishmael Oundo, share the same birthday date of January 14.
According to Odoyo’s account, after the birthday festivities ended, she persuaded Oundo to go and rest in bed. It was during this moment that she allegedly poured water on him—water she insists she thought was cold. Instead, the liquid turned out to be boiling hot, causing serious burns, especially to his face and other parts of his body.
Oundo is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Busia town, where medical staff are attending to the significant facial and bodily injuries he sustained.
Police in Busia have recorded a statement from the suspect, Mercy Odoyo, who has been charged in connection with the assault and intentional harm. She is expected to appear in court in the coming days to answer the charges.
Odoyo has maintained that she had no intention of harming her boyfriend and described the entire episode as an unfortunate accident. No additional information has been released concerning any prior disagreement or possible motive.
Investigations by Busia police are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
