Busia County Residents Urged to Embrace credit,invest in raw materials and value addition to support upcoming industries

PS Mang'eni now urges Busia County residents to invest in raw materials and value addition to support upcoming industries

The Principal Secretary in the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Susan Mangeni, has urged the residents of Busia County to embrace credit facilities and invest in raw material production projects to meet the demands of upcoming industries in the Nasewa area.

Speaking during an Easter mass at Lwanya Catholic Church, as well as in Ganjala, Mangeni urged residents to adopt value addition practices in agricultural production emphasizing that this would help increase income levels as well as creating employment opportunities for the youths.

Mangeni further stated that the government is planning to revive the Mulwanda Cotton Factory in a bid to boost the economy of the Samia region and Busia County at large.

"We have a very high potential of textile value chain in Muluanda, and therefore, we want Muluanda cotton factory to grow and become a big factory, we also target to revive back cotton farming" ~ Ps Susan Mangeni
