Busia Politicians Urged to embrace peaceful campaigns

BUSIA — Politicians seeking various elective positions in Busia County have been urged to shun violence and divisive politics and instead embrace peaceful campaigns ahead of the elections.
UDA Busia coordinator Dr Isaac Alukwe said political competition should not be allowed to create divisions among residents, warning that ordinary citizens often suffer the greatest consequences when political tensions escalate.
Speaking at Hosanna Church in Kadakai, Kamolo Ward, Teso North, Alukwe called on politicians and their supporters to put peace first and respect divergent political views.
"Busia, let's stop this.Having a different opinion doesn't make you an enemy to be hunted like a rat. If you didn't deliver,own it.Apologize , promise to do better, and let the people decide.we want peace during this election campaign, " ~ Dr. Isaac Alukwe
He also urged Busia residents to support President William Ruto's administration, saying the county has benefited from development projects implemented by the national government.
He allluded that continued cooperation with the national government would enable the county to attract more development projects and benefit from government programmes.
“We are asking the people of Busia to continue supporting the government of President William Ruto. We have seen development projects coming to this county, and by working together with the national government, Busia can attract even more development and benefit from government programmes.” ~ Dr Alukwe
The UDA official further asked residents to distance themselves from what he described as divisive opposition politics, arguing that political differences should not come at the expense of development.
He said working with the national government would give Busia an opportunity to continue benefiting from development initiatives.
“We should reject politics that divides our people. Political differences should not be allowed to interfere with development. Our focus should be on issues that affect the people, and we should work together to ensure Busia continues to benefit from development programmes.” ~ Dr. Alukwe
Alukwe made the remarks during a fundraising event at Hosanna Church, where he urged political leaders to focus on issue-based campaigns and ensure the election period remains peaceful.
