For many women in Busia County, Catherine Omanyo's rise within ODM is more than a political story—it is a reflection of what women can achieve when given an opportunity to lead.

Now, a section of ODM women leaders from the county is calling on the party's top leadership to officially confirm the Busia Woman Representative as the party's substantive Secretary General, saying she has already proven herself while serving in the acting role.

Led by Asli Abdullahi, Eunice Odhiambo, and Benta Musakho, the women praised Omanyo's hands-on leadership style, describing her as a dedicated leader who has worked tirelessly to keep the party strong and united since taking over the position following the departure of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

According to them, Omanyo has not only managed party affairs effectively but has also remained visible on the ground, engaging members and championing the party's interests at a critical time.

"Catherine Omanyo has shown that she can lead. She has remained committed to the party, worked closely with members, and demonstrated the qualities required of a Secretary General. We believe she deserves to be confirmed permanently,Her journey is a powerful message to women across Kenya. We should not wait for opportunities to come to us; we should step forward and compete for leadership positions just as she has done"

They also welcomed the upcoming ODM Youth Convention scheduled for Sunday 28th in Busia, terming it a significant moment for the party and an opportunity to bring young people closer to leadership and decision-making. They appealed to residents to uphold peace and order during the event.

Beyond the politics, the women said Omanyo's journey should inspire more women to step forward and seek elective positions rather than waiting to be nominated. They argued that her performance demonstrates that women are equally capable of leading major political institutions and shaping the country's future.

"Women have the capacity to lead at the highest levels. Omanyo has already proven that. Her journey is a powerful message to women across Kenya. We should not wait for opportunities to come to us; we should step forward and compete for leadership positions just as she has done"

The women further extended a warm welcome to leaders and supporters defecting from other political parties, saying ODM remains a political home for those seeking to contribute to the party's growth and vision.

The endorsement marks yet another boost for Omanyo, whose growing profile within ODM is increasingly placing her at the center of discussions about the party's future leadership direction.
