Charles Kanjama Secures Decisive Victory as New LSK President

Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama has won a convincing mandate to become the 52nd President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), polling 3,728 votes in the February 19, 2026, election overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The keenly watched contest drew significant engagement from advocates across the country, underscoring the society's pivotal role in safeguarding judicial integrity, advocating for legal professionals, and shaping Kenya's legal landscape.
Kanjama outpaced his competitors with clear margins: Peter Wanyama, making a second attempt at the presidency, finished second with 2,616 votes, while outgoing LSK Vice President Mwaura Kabata placed third with 2,086 votes. Succeeding Faith Odhiambo, Kanjama will now steer the organization for the 2026-2028 term, building on campaign promises centered on bar independence, enhanced member welfare, and constructive dialogue with government bodies.
The race featured robust debates and diverse platforms from the candidates, highlighting priorities for the profession's future amid evolving challenges. As the transition unfolds per LSK guidelines, Kanjama's strong showing is expected to promote cohesion within the membership and drive forward key initiatives for the legal community.
