Empowering Busia's Youth through Poultry farming

More than 400 youths from Busia County have received training in poultry farming as one of the ways to create employment and sustainable livelihoods amongst them.
The training, which took place at the Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) grounds in Busia town, aims to reach 10,000 youths across the Western region.
the training organized by Kenya Poultry Farmers Company seeks to improve poultry production and also promote poultry consumption among consumers.
The Director of Kenya Poultry Farmers, Hezron Opiyo, stated that both improved and indigenous poultry farming is one of the most profitable businesses for young people compared to other ventures, saying 6lpoultry farming does not require large capital and can provide reliable income through the sale of either the birds meet or eggs. However, many poultry farmers incurr losses e.g death i.e after a period of sickness, lighter weight hibders the marlet.begin, but Opiyo attributes to a lack of sufficient knowledge on proper poultry management.
He further noted that they aim to reach 1,500 farmers within one month in Busia County alone, assuring them of a ready market for income generated from poultry farming.
On the other hand, trained Paultry Farmers are now with skills to boost production and reduce losses .
