Gospel Singer Jimmy Gait Hospitalised Following Brutal Thug Attack in Runda

Renowned Kenyan gospel singer Jimmy Gait (real name James Ngaita) is recovering in hospital after a violent assault by suspected thugs in the upscale Runda area of Nairobi.
The attack took place on the morning of Sunday, February 22, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., while the artist was in the neighborhood. The assailants robbed him of his mobile phone and cash before inflicting serious injuries, leaving him bloodied and in significant pain.
In a video recorded from his hospital bed at St. Teresa Hospital in Thindigua, the visibly shaken musician described the harrowing experience: “I was attacked by thugs, they have hurt me so much. I am full of blood all over. They have cut my finger. My hands are cut. It is by God’s grace I have survived. Please pray for me.” He expressed gratitude for being alive, having come face-to-face with what he called death itself. Fellow gospel personality DJ Mo (Samuel Muraya) shared the news on social media, urging fans to pray for Gait's recovery while warning the public to ignore any suspicious messages or requests for money sent from the stolen phone.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about security in Nairobi's affluent estates, with police launching an investigation to track down the perpetrators. Fans and colleagues have flooded social media with messages of support and prayers for the popular gospel artist's swift healing.
