Government Orders Arrest of Public Servants Involved in Kitale Forest Land Encroachment

The Kenyan government has directed the immediate arrest of public servants accused of signing documents that facilitated the illegal grabbing of part of the KCC forest land adjacent to Kitale town in Trans Nzoia County. This move comes amid ongoing efforts to protect public land and combat environmental degradation in the region.
Speaking during a tree-planting exercise at the affected forest area, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba and Endebess MP Dr. Robert Pukose emphasized that the government will not tolerate land grabbers targeting public land or actions contributing to environmental destruction. The two leaders stressed that any public officials who abused their positions to allow illegal encroachment or unlawful allocation of the forest land must face swift investigation, arrest, and prosecution to serve as a deterrent.
CS Migos and MP Pukose reiterated the commitment to safeguarding forests and public resources, calling for accountability from those involved in the encroachment. The tree-planting initiative, led by learning institutions in Trans Nzoia including Kitale National Polytechnic, underscores broader efforts to restore the degraded KCC forest area and promote environmental conservation in the county.
