Governor Fernandes Barasa Announces Bukhungu Stadium Completion by Year-End
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has confirmed that the ongoing upgrade of Bukhungu Stadium is progressing rapidly, with the facility now more than 50 percent complete.
During a recent inspection of the site, the governor revealed that the county government has implemented an accelerated construction program to ensure the project wraps up by the end of the current year. This timeline aligns with preparations for major regional events, as the stadium remains a potential venue for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
The renovation project is a collaborative effort between the Kakamega County Government and the national government through the Ministry of Sports.
