Governor Wamatangi's bank accounts frozen over Ksh.813 million graft case.

The High Court has directed the freezing of bank accounts linked to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, along with those of his wife, his children, and ten additional individuals. This action stems from a corruption probe involving approximately KSh 813 million that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) claims represent proceeds of graft and unexplained wealth.
The EACC requested the preservation orders as part of its efforts to recover the funds, amid allegations tied to irregular dealings. The account freeze will stay in effect until the court fully hears and decides on the commission's application.
This latest development adds to the governor's mounting challenges, which now include the overnight demolition of his business properties situated close to Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. Reports indicate the structures—reportedly on land belonging to Kenya Railways Corporation—were razed in the early hours of Wednesday.
Eyewitness accounts state that police arrived around midnight, deploying tear gas and, in some reports, live ammunition to clear the area and those present before the bulldozers moved in to carry out the demolition.
