Harambee Stars ,Timothy Ouma Signs Season Loan with Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic have strengthened their midfield ranks by securing the services of international midfielder Timothy Ouma on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague, complete with an option to turn the deal permanent.
The arrival marks the Addicks’ seventh addition of the current summer window, following earlier deals for Ivan Mesík, Billy Koumetio, Karlan Grant, Danny McNamara, Millenic Alli and Nathaniel Chalobah. Born in Nairobi in the country, Ouma brings a wealth of experience from clubs across Europe and a growing reputation as a dynamic presence in central areas.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, the new arrival expressed clear enthusiasm for the challenge ahead. “I’m grateful to be here. I’ll give my all and do my best to help the team achieve. I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters and hearing them cheer every tackle, every duel and every goal,” Ouma said. Manager Nathan Jones highlighted the club’s long-term interest in the player, describing him as an athletic and technical midfielder who possesses strong pedigree and will inject genuine quality into the engine room. Managing Director James Rodwell echoed the positive sentiment, noting that Ouma matches the profile the club has sought while adding athleticism, ball-playing ability and physical presence.
Ouma’s professional journey began with Nairobi City Stars in his hometown, where he spent two formative years before making the leap to Swedish side IF Elfsborg in the summer of 2022. Three seasons in Scandinavia followed, during which he featured in 13 Europa League matches and refined his game against high-level opposition. A subsequent move to Slavia Prague opened further doors, including a productive 2025/26 loan spell at Polish champions Lech Poznań, where he contributed to a league title and gained additional European experience.
At international level, Ouma has already earned twelve caps for the country since making his debut in a 1-1 draw against Uganda in November 2021. His progressive development and consistent performances have made him an increasingly valuable asset both club and country, underlining the potential he carries into The Valley. The option for Charlton to convert the loan into a permanent transfer places the club in a favourable position should the midfielder deliver the impact expected of him.
With the new campaign approaching, Ouma’s arrival adds further depth and competition to a midfield already refreshed by recent signings.
