IEBC BUSIA TARGETS 47,850 NEW VOTERS, URGES MULTI-AGENCY SUPPORT!

IEBC calls for multi -agency support to boost voter registration and counter political interference as youths leads the charge.
IEBC intensifies voter registration drive in Busia County, aiming to register 47,850 new voters this month.Busia County IEBC manager Carol Okky has now called for a multi-agency approach to boost registration , citing that out of 100% of the youth registration only 4.6% have turned up.
Okky further confirms that amongst the seven sub counties from the county, Teso North leads in voter registration followed by Teso South as per the ongoing exercise majority being the youths . Has urged stakeholders to intensify civic education,emphasizing the importance of youth participation in the democratic process.
"We've seen youths turning up for the exercise, this is good, but the figures are still law, we expect 100% youth turn up but unfortunately we still at 4.6%, this means we need alot of sensitisation so as to reach our target of 47,850 new voters by the end of the month. Addressing the press after having a session with the youths, youths led by Benjamin Sireka, Austine Juma , Maureen Adhiambo, and Bashir were, have expressed their concern over the politicization of the voter registration process, emphasizing that it is a national exercise aimed at improving living conditions through electing vision orientated leaders.
"The "Tuko Kadi" campaign is not just a slogan . it's not a campaign of either two terms or one term. it's a slogan of youths to turn up and register as voters" ~ they say
Meanwhile, they caution those who are being lured to transfer their votes to other places, saying that the move might undermine their efforts to elect better leaders.
