Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has raised questions over the alleged misuse of an official vehicle assigned to the deputy governor.

According to remarks attributed to Kahiga, the Deputy Governor’s driver allegedly used the county vehicle at night to ferry several women to different locations within Nyeri town.

The governor reportedly said that on one occasion, he personally followed the driver after the vehicle allegedly picked up several women from a fast-food outlet in Nyeri town. Kahiga claims the women were subsequently dropped off at different locations.

The allegation has drawn attention to the management and use of county government vehicles, particularly vehicles assigned to senior county officials.

However, the claims remain allegations attributed to Governor Kahiga, and I could not independently verify the incident or establish whether any disciplinary or administrative action has been taken against the driver.

The matter also raises broader questions about accountability in the use of public resources and whether official vehicles are being used strictly for authorised government duties.
