Kakamega Governor Urges Politicians to Stop Exploiting Youth for Chaos
Kakamega Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa has issued a strong call for politicians to end the dangerous practice of using young people to incite violence and disrupt public gatherings.
Speaking during the burial service of Dr. Lukes Kundu in Mumias West, the governor expressed deep concern over the growing trend that threatens national peace and stability. He warned that failing to address this issue could plunge the country into broader unrest if left unchecked.
Barasa criticized leaders who recruit youth as tools for political confrontations instead of guiding them responsibly. He stressed that public figures have a duty to mentor and advise the younger generation rather than exploiting them for short-term gains during rallies and other events. This approach, he noted, undermines efforts to build a cohesive society.
The governor challenged politicians to invest meaningfully in youth empowerment through job creation, skills development, and economic opportunities. Such initiatives, according to Barasa, would help young people build better futures and reduce their vulnerability to manipulation into acts of disorder.
