Kaluma: Sifuna Should Be Removed from ODM Immediately

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has strongly criticised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and called for his removal from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
In a statement posted on X on Monday, March 30, 2026, Kaluma questioned why Sifuna is still in the party. He said Sifuna continues to call himself Secretary General and enjoys party facilities and benefits despite the ongoing divisions in ODM.
“What is Sifuna still doing in ODM? And he still calls himself SG! Uses ODM vehicles and is the Deputy Minority Whip enjoying over Sh400,000 in extra allowances etc! The faster this boy is thrown out of ODM and the facilities he’s enjoying taken away, the better!” Kaluma wrote. The remarks come amid growing tensions in the party following Sifuna’s recent comments criticising ODM leadership and its direction after Raila Odinga’s exit.
The strong attack highlights the deep cracks within ODM as different factions clash over the party’s future. Kaluma’s call adds to the pressure on Sifuna, who was earlier removed as Secretary General. Many observers see this as part of the bigger battle for control and loyalty in the party ahead of the 2027 elections. ODM leaders have so far maintained that the party will not chase members but expects discipline from all. The exchange has sparked lively debate on social media about loyalty, party discipline, and the future of opposition politics in Kenya.
