Kenya, Kenya, Norway and US Set to Host Clean Cooking Summit in Nairobi the United States are set to co-host the second Africa Clean Cooking Summit in Nairobi in January 2027.

The high-level meeting will bring together governments and key stakeholders to advance efforts to increase access to clean cooking across Africa.

The announcement came after a meeting between President William Ruto and his US counterpart Donald Trump on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The summit is expected to renew attention on the need for greater investment in clean cooking technologies and solutions, particularly in communities that continue to depend on traditional cooking fuels.

Access to clean cooking is a major energy and public health issue across Africa, with many households still relying on fuels and cooking methods that produce harmful smoke and contribute to environmental degradation.

The Nairobi summit is expected to provide an opportunity for participating countries and partners to strengthen cooperation, mobilise financing and promote technologies that can make clean cooking more accessible and affordable.

For Kenya, hosting the summit alongside Norway and the United States places the country at the centre of continental discussions on the transition to cleaner cooking solutions.

The meeting is also expected to build on commitments made through previous clean cooking initiatives and chart the next phase of efforts to accelerate the adoption of cleaner cooking technologies across Africa.

More details on the summit, including participating countries and the specific commitments expected in Nairobi, are likely to emerge ahead of the January 2027 meeting.
