Kenya Weather Update: Areas to Expected to Receive Heavy Rains.

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a five-day weather outlook from Friday, February 6, to Tuesday, February 10, 2026, indicating that much of the country will enjoy sunny and dry weather. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in several key areas, particularly during the afternoons and evenings, with four main zones highlighted for potential rainfall: parts of Central Kenya, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the South-Eastern lowlands.
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and sections of the Rift Valley, residents should prepare for intermittent showers, occasional thunderstorms, and light rain at times, especially from February 8 onward. This includes counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, and West Pokot. Some areas may see morning or nighttime drizzle in the latter part of the period.
Central Kenya is set for mostly cloudy mornings transitioning to sunny spells, with isolated afternoon and nighttime showers possible in counties including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi. The South-Eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta) will have sunny mornings followed by occasional isolated showers in the afternoons and nights. Meanwhile, most other parts of the country, including North-Eastern regions and much of the Coast, are expected to remain predominantly dry and sunny, though a few coastal spots could see light showers. The KMD has also cautioned about significantly colder nights in Central Kenya and parts of the Rift Valley, with temperatures potentially dropping to as low as 6–8°C in highland areas.
