Kenyans contribute Ksh519,144 in 12 hours to fund Linda Mwananchi campaigns

In a remarkable display of grassroots support, ordinary citizens came together to raise substantial funds for the Linda Mwananchi movement in record time

Within roughly half a day, contributors poured in Sh519,144 through mobile money transfers, showcasing strong public enthusiasm for the initiative. This quick response highlights the growing momentum behind efforts to build a people-centered political platform.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna spearheaded the appeal, encouraging supporters to donate even small amounts like Sh10 each. Data from organizers revealed that 9,419 individuals participated, with contributions ranging from as little as Sh1 to a maximum of Sh5,000. The average donation stood at around Sh55, reflecting broad-based involvement rather than reliance on a few big donors.

The funds will support essential operations such as logistics for rallies, payments to service providers, and other practical needs to keep the movement active across the country. Sifuna emphasized transparency, promising to publicly account for every shilling spent. He addressed critics by stressing that the movement operates independently and uses the contributions solely for collective activities, not personal enrichment.

This successful one-day drive underscores the power of collective action among citizens eager for alternative voices in politics. As Linda Mwananchi continues to gain traction, such community-backed efforts could play a key role in shaping its future direction and impact on national conversations.
