Kindiki Leads as Preferred Running Mate for Ruto in 2027 Poll

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki continues to top the list of potential running mates for President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, according to the latest Infotrak survey.

The poll shows him commanding a strong 34 percent approval rating nationally, putting him well ahead of other contenders. This positions Kindiki as the frontrunner in the eyes of many Kenyans when it comes to pairing with the President for the next term.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga follows in second place with 11 percent support, while Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga trails at 9 percent. Other figures such as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula each garnered 2 percent in the national rankings. The survey underscores clear regional loyalties, with candidates drawing the bulk of their backing from their home areas

In the Mt. Kenya region, Kindiki enjoys overwhelming preference at 41 percent, with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru coming in second locally. Nyanza respondents leaned toward Wanga, followed by Oburu, while the Western region favored Mudavadi ahead of Wetang’ula. At the Coast, Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho led preferences, with Kindiki ranking second there as well.

These findings offer an early glimpse into voter sentiments as political alignments take shape ahead of the next general election. While surveys can shift over time, the results highlight the importance of regional dynamics and national appeal in choosing a suitable deputy. Political observers will be watching closely to see how these preferences evolve in the coming months.
