KRA Surpasses KSh 2 Trillion Revenue Mark by End of Third Quarter

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has collected KSh 2.038 trillion in the first nine months of the 2025/26 financial year, surpassing the KSh 2 trillion milestone.

This marks the first time the authority has crossed the KSh 2 trillion mark within the first nine months of a financial year.

The strong performance comes after a period of steady growth in tax collections, driven by improved compliance, enhanced digital systems, and better enforcement measures. It reflects a recovering economy with increased business activity, higher consumption, and stronger performance in key sectors such as domestic taxes and customs.

This achievement provides the government with much-needed resources to fund the expanded national budget, which recently rose to KSh 4.6 trillion following parliamentary approval of supplementary spending. It also reduces pressure on domestic borrowing and creates more fiscal space for priority areas like infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.

KRA remains confident of meeting its full-year target of KSh 2.968 trillion for the 2025/26 financial year. Officials have attributed the good results to ongoing reforms, including the use of technology to widen the tax base and simplify tax payment processes. With one quarter remaining, the authority is expected to intensify efforts to ensure it delivers on the annual goal and supports the country’s development agenda.
