KUPPET Calls for Better Security for Teachers in Garissa and North Eastern Region

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has raised concern over the safety of teachers working in Garissa and the wider North Eastern region
The union has urged the government to strengthen security measures in the area following a series of recent attacks that have left many educators feeling unsafe. KUPPET emphasized that teachers play a vital role in educating young people and should not have to work under constant fear of violence.
The call comes as part of ongoing efforts to protect education workers in regions facing security challenges.
At the same time, KUPPET has renewed its demand for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to employ all Junior Secondary School (JSS) intern teachers on permanent and pensionable terms. This follows a court ruling that declared the internship programme illegal and unconstitutional
