Late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno Laid to Rest at Mogondo Home

The late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament, Johana Ng’eno, was buried on March 6, 2026, at his home in Mogondo, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County, following a joint funeral service held at Emurua Dikirr Primary School.
Ng’eno, along with four aides—Carlos Keter, Amos Kipngetich Rotich, Wycliffe Rono, and Nicholas Kosgei—perished in a tragic helicopter crash on February 28, 2026, in Chepkieb Forest, Mosop, Nandi County. The crash occurred after Ng’eno had participated in search and rescue efforts for flood victims at Mara River and attended a cultural event honoring a veteran Kalenjin musician in Endebess.
President William Ruto, who attended the burial alongside other dignitaries, paid glowing tribute to the late MP, describing him as a dedicated leader committed to unity, community empowerment, and national development. Ruto highlighted Ng’eno’s fearless support for the government’s affordable housing agenda as chair of the relevant parliamentary committee, despite facing opposition and legal challenges. In recognition of his contributions, the President directed the Ministry of Housing to rename Nairobi’s Shauri Moyo Housing Estate—one of the city’s largest—to Johana Ng’eno Housing Estate. He also announced ongoing annual support of KSh 20 million for five years through the Ministry of Arts to continue Ng’eno’s work in organizing and empowering local artists in the region.
Ruto further pledged KSh 20 million toward establishing a Maasai Mara University campus in Emurua Dikirr, instructing Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu to secure suitable land within weeks. The burial ceremony drew thousands of mourners, reflecting Ng’eno’s legacy as a humble, vocal legislator who championed justice, equity, youth development, and cultural promotion in his constituency and beyond. The event underscored the profound loss felt across the community and national leadership.
