Lawyer Re-Arrested Hours After Bail in Dr. Mutiso Murder Case

The re-arrest followed Mulwa’s release alongside Nelson Masiga in a separate but connected matter involving the alleged theft of a Range Rover. That vehicle had been recovered from one of her properties in the Karen area, and the case centers on a contested twenty-one-acre piece of land in Mlolongo that investigators have tied to the broader murder inquiry. Both individuals had been taken into custody on the second of August and held for fourteen days while inquiries continued. Mavoko Senior Resident Magistrate Lilian Kwamboka had earlier rejected a request from prosecutors to keep them locked up for an additional week so that detectives could finish their work.

Mulwa had successfully sought a review of her bond conditions, arguing that close relatives were also being held in connection with the same murder probe and therefore could not help arrange the required sureties. Prosecutors opposed the change, pointing to the high value of the disputed land, estimated at more than nine hundred million shillings. In the end the magistrate ordered each suspect to deposit one million shillings in cash, provide a matching surety, and hand over their passports together with other travel documents.
