Lukaku Completes Move to Turkish Giants Fenerbahce
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has officially joined Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce from Napoli. The 33-year-old forward’s transfer was confirmed by the Istanbul club on Wednesday, though neither the contract length nor the transfer fee was disclosed.
The move marks a new chapter for the experienced goalscorer after a difficult final season in Italy.
Lukaku wasted no time addressing his new supporters. In a video message shared on social media, he said, “It’s an honour and a privilege to be joining your club and to join this club. I’m fit, 100 percent, ready to go.” The declaration of full fitness will come as welcome news to Fenerbahce fans eager to see the powerful forward lead their attack.
The Belgium international arrives with an impressive scoring pedigree and a varied club career. He remains his country’s all-time leading goalscorer with 93 international strikes and has previously represented Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan. After joining Napoli in 2024 and helping the team claim the Scudetto, injuries and a reported fallout with the club limited him to just 64 minutes of action last term.
Despite limited club football, Lukaku still featured for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup. He scored three goals as the Red Devils advanced to the quarter-finals before losing to eventual champions Spain. His arrival strengthens Fenerbahce’s forward line, which has already been boosted by the recent signing of former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood.
Fenerbahce will hope Lukaku’s experience and finishing ability can finally end their long wait for a league title. The club has finished runners-up to fierce rivals Galatasaray in each of the past four seasons and has not lifted the Turkish Super Lig trophy since 2014. With the Belgian now on board, expectations are high that the drought could soon end.
