Man Arrested Over Wife’s Murder in Trans Nzoia

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have taken a 32-year-old man into custody over the killing of his wife in Sabwani Village within Kiminini Sub-County of Trans Nzoia County.

Officers from Waitaluk Police Station, working alongside DCI personnel from Kiminini and crime scene experts, moved quickly to the home after receiving a report from the local assistant chief. The discovery of the woman’s body inside the couple’s residence has left the neighbourhood in mourning.

When police arrived, they found the lifeless body of Joan Nanjala lying on a bed. Visible injuries included a dislocated right shoulder, a deep cut above the right eyebrow and further harm to the right leg. The condition of the body pointed to a violent attack that had occurred shortly before the report was made.

Early findings by investigators suggest the fatal assault arose from a domestic disagreement between the husband and his wife. Details of the argument remain under close examination as officers piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. Neighbours and relatives have expressed shock at the sudden loss of life within the household.

Crime scene specialists carefully documented the location and collected key evidence before the body was transferred to Cherangany Hospital Mortuary. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to establish the precise cause of death and support the ongoing case. The thorough processing of the scene aims to leave no detail overlooked.

The suspect, identified as Haron Kibet, is being held at Waitaluk Police Station while detectives complete their inquiries. Authorities are preparing to present him in court once the investigation reaches the required stage. The case has drawn attention to the persistent challenge of domestic violence in communities across the country.
