Maraga Appeals to Kenyans for Donations to Fund His 2027 Presidential Campaign

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has made a direct appeal to Kenyans for financial support.
On Monday, March 30, 2026, he asked citizens to donate to his campaign as he prepares to run for president in the 2027 general election. Maraga, who is vying on the United Green Movement (UGM) party ticket, said he wants a campaign funded by ordinary Kenyans and not by big sponsors or wealthy individuals.
In his statement, Maraga told Kenyans: "Fellow Kenyans, I need you to help me reset, rebuild and restore Kenya." He explained that if the campaign is supported by donations from everyday people, it will truly belong to all Kenyans. Maraga urged those willing to contribute to visit his official campaign website or use the M-Pesa Paybill number 4164137 with the account number 4164137. He is currently holding town hall meetings across the country to mobilise support and encourage voter registration, especially among young people.
This appeal comes as Maraga positions himself as a candidate focused on change, anti-corruption, and national renewal. He has been meeting with opposition figures and visiting different counties to build momentum for his bid. The call for public donations highlights his aim to run a people-driven campaign ahead of the 2027 polls. Kenyans have reacted in different ways, with some praising the move while others question the timing and details of the funding.
