Mau Mau General Kiambati wa Njora Passes Away at 106.

Renowned Mau Mau freedom fighter General Kiambati wa Njora, recognized as the last surviving member of the 12 Mau Mau generals who spearheaded the armed resistance against British colonial rule, has died at the age of 106.
The veteran passed away peacefully on Tuesday at his home in Ngorika, Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County. His son, Maina Kiambati, confirmed that the cause of death was old age-related natural causes.
Kiambati wa Njora played a pivotal role in Kenya's struggle for independence, commanding operations primarily in the Nyandarua region during the Mau Mau uprising in the 1950s. As one of the key generals, he was instrumental in the fight that ultimately contributed to the nation's liberation from colonial control.
In his later years, the general remained vocal about the plight of fellow Mau Mau veterans, highlighting the poverty and lack of adequate support many endured despite their sacrifices. He frequently called for greater recognition and assistance for those who fought for Kenya's freedom.
Family members shared that he had spent quality time with his children and grandchildren over the weekend, attending a memorial service for a grandchild who passed away a decade earlier. His body has since been moved to Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru.
Kiambati wa Njora's passing marks the end of an era for Kenya's liberation heroes, leaving behind a powerful legacy of courage, resilience, and dedication to the cause of independence. His contributions continue to inspire generations, underscoring the enduring impact of the Mau Mau movement on modern Kenya.
