Mbadi Demands Immediate Expulsion of Sifuna from ODM Over Alleged Disloyalty.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary and former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi has urged the party's Central Management Committee to immediately expel Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Speaking during a fundraiser in Suba South constituency, Mbadi accused Sifuna and his associates of shifting loyalty to the United Opposition bloc and actively promoting an external agenda that contradicts ODM's direction. He insisted that such disloyalty cannot be tolerated, stating, “Someone like Sifuna will not remain in ODM because already he is conflicted. He is now selling the agenda of someone else. Why are you pretending? You cannot keep him at the party.”

Mbadi highlighted Sifuna's alleged indiscipline, particularly toward interim party leader Oburu Oginga, and dismissed initiatives like the Linda Wananchi campaign—spearheaded by Sifuna alongside figures such as Babu Owino and James Orengo—as lacking legitimacy. He called on the party leadership to act decisively without delay to curb deepening divisions, warning that allowing conflicted members to stay would undermine ODM's unity and strength. Mbadi stressed that those unwilling to align with the party's official policies, as outlined by its leadership, should be permitted to leave so the true extent of their support could be revealed.

Despite the internal tensions, Mbadi reaffirmed the resilience of ODM under Oburu Oginga's stewardship, insisting the party remains firmly intact and will persist in its current path, including the ongoing UDA-ODM partnership. He expressed confidence that expelling dissenting voices would reinforce cohesion rather than fracture the organization, emphasizing that ODM's foundation—built during the era of the late Raila Odinga—would endure without compromise. The remarks reflect escalating friction within ODM between factions supporting government collaboration and those opposing it.
