Millicent Omanga Declares ODM is Now Just a Shell

Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has delivered a strong attack on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying the once-powerful party no longer exists in its original form.

Speaking on Saturday, 28 March 2026, Omanga stated, “ODM does not exist anymore. It is a shell, not the ODM we used to know.”

Omanga argued that the party that was built over many years by Raila Odinga has lost its soul and direction following his death. She claimed that recent leadership changes, including the endorsement of Dr Oburu Oginga as the new party leader and the removal of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as Secretary General, have left ODM as an empty structure without its original spirit and unity.

Her remarks come at a time when ODM is holding its Special National Delegates Conference and trying to reorganise itself. Millicent Omanga, who has been vocal in supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, used the opportunity to contrast the current weakened ODM with the strong opposition party it once was. Many political observers see her statement as part of the ongoing battle for influence between the government and opposition forces ahead of the 2027 elections.
