MP Peter Salasya Demands Arrest of Russian Man

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has called for the immediate arrest of a Russian national identified as Yaytseslav (also known as Vyacheslav Trahov), accusing him of recording and publicly sharing viral videos featuring Kenyan women without their consent.

In a statement issued on February 14, 2026, Salasya described the man's actions as disrespectful, exploitative, and humiliating, stating, “This man must be arrested for shaming our beautiful Girls for recording them. This is unacceptable.” He further claimed the individual possessed “skills to trap our girls” and possessed “an evil spirit,” emphasizing that secretly filming and posting such content online was intolerable.

The controversial videos, which have circulated widely on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, show the man approaching women in public spaces—such as malls and supermarkets in Nairobi, Kenya, and previously in Accra, Ghana. He reportedly uses hidden recording devices like smart glasses to capture initial conversations and subsequent private encounters in hotels or Airbnbs, then shares edited clips online. Salasya highlighted a specific instance where the man stopped a mother walking with her child to get her number and later contacted her, calling it particularly disrespectful to the child and the family unit.

The viral content has ignited widespread debate in Kenya and across Africa regarding privacy, informed consent, and the ethics of non-consensual filming and distribution. Other figures, including MCAs and online users, have echoed calls for investigation and potential deportation or legal action against the man for what some describe as abusive or cyber-related offenses. Salasya's outspoken demand adds to growing public pressure on authorities to address the issue amid concerns over exploitation of local women by foreign visitors.
