Mumias East MP Peter Salasya Urges Edwin Sifuna to Exit ODM

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has issued a strong public message to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, advising him to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter) Salasya described ODM as nothing more than a temporary waiting room for Sifuna rather than a permanent political home. He suggested that the senator’s time in the party is quickly running out and urged him to depart with whatever dignity he still has.
Salasya used strong imagery to drive his point home. He told Sifuna that he is merely a visitor being shown around by the real owners of the party, naming James Orengo and Babu Owino as the main figures in control. According to Salasya, Sifuna is like a tenant without a proper lease and could soon be quietly removed through internal party processes. He pointed to shifting public opinion on social media, particularly on Facebook, as clear evidence that the mood within and outside ODM has changed against the senator.
The remarks come at a time when Sifuna continues to face disciplinary action from ODM leadership. The party has already relieved him of his duties as Secretary General and given him a short period to respond to several charges of misconduct. While Sifuna has maintained that he remains a loyal member and has launched the “Linda Mwananchi” movement to engage with citizens, Salasya believes the senator should make a clean break now instead of waiting to be pushed out. The message reflects ongoing tensions and realignments inside ODM as the party prepares for future political battles.
