Museveni’s Daughter Becomes Bishop.
Patience Rwabwogo, daughter of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, was consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop of Covenant Nations Church during a significant ceremony held on Sunday.
The event took place at the church’s Maya Campus in Wakiso District and marked both her elevation and the twentieth anniversary of the ministry she founded. Family members, senior government officials, and international religious leaders gathered to witness the milestone in her long journey of pastoral service.
The consecration was led by American evangelist Bishop LaDonna Osborn, who formally dedicated Rwabwogo to the episcopal office. Drawing from scripture, Osborn urged the new bishop to embrace the full responsibility of proclaiming the gospel, strengthening the church, and serving God’s people with a servant’s heart. Church elders had earlier affirmed her readiness, recalling how the ministry began two decades earlier as a modest house fellowship before expanding into a wider network of congregations.
President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni attended the service as both parents and national leaders. The president used the occasion to express gratitude for his wife’s recent recovery, acknowledging the support of medical teams and family during her illness. Other notable guests included Vice President Jessica Alupo, Nigerian pastor Enoch Adeboye and his wife, whom Rwabwogo regards as spiritual parents, along with various ministers, security chiefs, and diplomats.
The ceremony included traditional elements such as the laying on of hands, anointing with oil, and the presentation of episcopal symbols representing oversight and spiritual authority. Rwabwogo’s husband, Odrek Rwabwogo, and other family members stood alongside her as she assumed the new role. Supporters described the moment as a natural progression of her dedicated ministry rather than a pursuit of title or prestige.
This development places Rwabwogo among the prominent Christian leaders in Uganda, with responsibility for guiding Covenant Nations Church both locally and beyond the country’s borders. The occasion highlighted the growth of a ministry that started small yet has steadily expanded its reach through teaching, discipleship, and community service. As she begins this new chapter, the focus remains on continued service and the advancement of faith-based work across the region.
