NATEMBEYA ROARS IN TRANS NZOIA

"Farm to table! Governor Natembeya hands over maize seeds to Trans Nzoia farmers, urges them to embrace agriculture for economic empowerment.

Thousands of farmers in Trans Nzoia County, particularly in the Matumbei area, turned up to receive packets of maize seeds distributed by Governor George Natembeya. The initiative is part of his broader campaign to fight poverty and hunger in the region.

Speaking during the event, Governor Natembeya urged residents to embrace farming as a key pathway to economic empowerment. He encouraged locals to ignore critics of the program and instead focus on agriculture, which he described as the most reliable route out of poverty. He also noted that poor leadership and misuse of resources have contributed to challenges in household management.

The governor further called on the Western region, especially the Luhya community, to unite and speak with one voice ahead of the upcoming general election. He criticized the reception given to President William Ruto during his recent tour of Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia counties, accusing him of diverting attention to personal attacks against opposition leaders. Natembeya warned that such politics could lead to dangerous national divisions.

He also urged unregistered voters to register in preparation for the next elections, emphasizing the need to “wipe out bad leadership.”

Meanwhile, Trans Nzoia County Liaison Officer Dan Sapiri encouraged residents to take advantage of the ongoing rains by harvesting water and investing in storage tanks to prepare for future shortages.

Senatorial hopeful Obed Mahanga, who also spoke at the event, has recently drawn large crowds during his campaigns. His growing popularity is reportedly causing concern for the incumbent senator Allan Chesang, who is currently facing allegations of scandals involving ambulances.
