'Niko Kadi' Mobilizer Allans Ademba Arrested in Ol Kalou

Well-known activist and #TukoKadi campaigner Allans Ademba has been arrested in Ol Kalou during the ongoing parliamentary by-election.
The popular mobilizer, who gained national fame for his voter registration drive ahead of the 2027 General Election, shared the news via his X account shortly after being apprehended. He was taken to the Ol Kalou DCI offices, though details surrounding the reasons for his arrest remain limited at this stage. Ademba’s detention has sparked immediate interest given his active role in the day’s events.
Prior to his arrest, Ademba had been actively documenting the polling process in the constituency. He shared photos and a video early in the morning showing long queues of voters at stations like AC Primary School. In his posts, he highlighted IEBC rules regarding voter eligibility, noting that only those who participated in the 2022 elections were being allowed to cast ballots, while newly registered voters were reportedly turned away. His on-ground presence reflected his continued commitment to civic engagement and electoral transparency.
Ademba rose to prominence in March when he launched the #TukoKadi initiative, encouraging mass voter registration across the country. The campaign, which began online and moved to physical IEBC centers, mobilized hundreds of young people, particularly in areas like Kasarani. His efforts have been credited with energizing citizen participation in the democratic process, making his arrest during this high-stakes by-election particularly noteworthy. The Ol Kalou poll is viewed as a significant indicator of political dynamics in the Mt. Kenya region ahead of 2027.
As investigations proceed at the DCI offices, many are closely watching how this development unfolds. Ademba’s arrest comes amid a closely contested by-election to replace the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho. Supporters of the activist hope for a swift resolution, while the incident adds another layer of attention to the electoral activities in the area. Voting continues across polling stations, with the results expected to shape future political strategies in the country.
