Awendo Football Academy and Plateau Queens have been crowned Nyanza regional champions after commanding 4-0 victories in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba finals at Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu.
Awendo, from Migori, produced a dominant display to thrash Siaya's Indomitable Soldiers and clinch the boys' title for the first time.
Star striker Kevin Mukaramoja was the hero, scoring a superb hat-trick in the 23rd, 28th, and 89th minutes, with Rayce Ochieng adding the third in the 77th minute. It was sweet revenge for Awendo, who lost to Obunga in last season's final.
In the girls' final, national defending champions Plateau Queens stamped their authority once again, beating Homa Bay's Hedso Queens 4-0 to retain the Nyanza crown for a third consecutive year.
Goals from Beryl Awuor, Emily Adhiambo, Joan Agola, and Velma Auma sealed a clinical victory for the Kisumu side.
Both champions pocketed Ksh 250,000 each, plus smartphones and airtime, and booked slots for the National Finals early next year. Runners-up Indomitable Soldiers and Hedso Queens took home Ksh 150,000 each.
In the individual awards, Valarie Achieng (Plateau Queens) and Chris Georgian (Awendo) were named Best Goalkeepers, while Emily Adhiambo and Kevin Mukaramoja won Top Scorer awards. MVPs Imelda Akinyi and Alex Ouma each received Ksh 30,000 and fully-funded tertiary scholarships under Safaricom's Citizens of the Future programme.
From the opening whistle to the final celebrations, the Nyanza regional finals showcased exactly what Chapa Dimba is all about — talent, determination, opportunity, and the power of football to transform lives.
For Awendo, it was a first regional boys' title.
For Plateau Queens, it was another chapter in an already remarkable story.
But the journey doesn't end there. The National Finals await. Nyanza has spoken. Awendo Football Academy and Plateau Queens are coming — and they are coming with champions' confidence.
