Nyoro Turns Up Heat on Ruto Over Police Uniforms

Kiharu MP and People's Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has raised questions over the newly introduced police uniforms, calling on the government to disclose their actual cost and explain the reasons behind the change.
Nyoro said the process of replacing the police uniforms could have resulted in the misuse of public funds, arguing that taxpayers deserve transparency on how much was spent on the new uniforms.
Speaking in Nambale, Busia County, during a tour aimed at popularising the PPK, Nyoro stressed the need for the government to exercise greater caution in the use of public resources.
““The government needs to come out clearly and tell Kenyans how much was spent on these new police uniforms. We can not simply wake up one morning and change uniforms without explaining the cost and the justification behind that decision. This is taxpayers' money, and it must be used responsibly. If the previous uniforms were still functional, Kenyans deserved to know why they had to be replaced and how much this exercise has cost the country.” ~ Hon Ndindi Nyoro
The legislator also condemned alleged incidents of violence and intimidation targeting politicians from the opposition as they conduct political campaigns across the country.
Nyoro called on the Interior Cabinet Secretary to take action against individuals involved in political violence, saying all political leaders should be allowed to campaign freely without intimidation.
“We strongly condemn the continued cases of political leaders being attacked or disrupted when they go out to engage with the people,the recent one being at Migori and Homabay where goons were seen beating and disrupting opposition campaigns. Kenya is a democratic country, and every political leader has a right to campaign and sell their ideas peacefully. The Interior Cabinet Secretary must take responsibility and ensure that political goonism does not become part of our politics.”
On matters of national cohesion, Nyoro urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against politicians accused of making inflammatory remarks.
He said leaders should be held accountable for statements that could incite communities or threaten peace and unity in the country.
“NCIC must do its work and act against politicians who make inflammatory statements targeting particular communities. We can not allow politicians to use words that divide Kenyans or create hatred among communities. Leaders must understand that they have a responsibility to promote peace and unity, and whenever anyone crosses the line, the relevant authorities must take action.” ~ Hon Ndindi Nyoro
Meanwhile, Nyoro called for greater unity among opposition leaders ahead of the next General Election.
He said opposition figures, including Linda Mwananchi leader Edwin Sifuna, should consider working together to build a formidable political alliance aimed at challenging President William Ruto and removing him from power at the next election.
“Going forward, we as the opposition leaders, we are going to put aside our individual differences and come together for the greater good of this country. Leaders such as Edwin Sifuna,Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Fred Matiangi and others should find a way of working together. If we are serious about changing the direction of this country by taking Ruto home, then we must build a united political force capable of challenging President William Ruto in the next General Election. "
Nyoro's remarks come as political parties and leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the next General Election, with alliances and political realignments expected to shape the country's political landscape.
