The ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has arrived in Mombasa for the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday 11th Feb 2026 from 10 am.
This meeting comes amid reports of internal conflicts within the party, with some factions pushing for sanctions against Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and others.
Dr. Oginga's visit to Mombasa is also part of a three-day tour of the Coast region, starting with Lamu on Thursday. This meeting is also expected to address key issues, including the party's stance on cooperation with President William Ruto's government and preparations for the 2027 general election.
The party is currently grappling with leadership challenges following the passing of Raila Odinga and Dr. Oginga's leadership is being put to the test.
SG Edwin Sifuna has been accused of conflating personal opinions with official party policy, particularly regarding a potential pre-election pact with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
