Patrick Wangamati, Former Nominated MP, is Dead.

Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has announced the death of his father, Patrick Wangamati.
The elder Wangamati passed away early Monday morning at 4am while receiving treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Bungoma. He had been seeking medical care at several facilities, including Nairobi Hospital and Bungoma West Hospital, before his condition deteriorated. The family is now grieving the loss of a respected patriarch.
Patrick Wangamati served as a nominated Member of Parliament under Ford Kenya from 2013 to 2017. He was also a prominent figure as chairperson of the Luhya Council of Elders, where his wisdom and steady leadership earned him admiration across the community. Known for his humility and dedication to public service, he played a key role in guiding the Mulembe nation and supporting various development initiatives in the region.
Condolences have poured in from political leaders. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna described him as a patient and firm guide whose counsel touched many lives. Bumula MP Jack Wanami Wamboka highlighted his contributions as an investor and elder, extending sympathies to the Wangamati family and the wider Luhya community. The family has requested prayers and support as they process the loss, with funeral arrangements to be announced later.
The passing of Patrick Wangamati adds to a growing list of prominent political figures who have died this year. His departure leaves a significant gap in Bungoma and the broader Luhya leadership circles. As tributes continue to flow, many remember him as a bridge-builder whose legacy of service and quiet strength will endure in the community he served so faithfully.
