Police Arrest Five Gang Suspects in Kisumu Raid

The intelligence-led raid took place on a deserted house in the Corner “S” area of Kasule Sub-Location, Kolwa Central, on August 7. Five young men aged between 19 and 24 were found at the scene and taken into custody without resistance.

The targeted location had long been identified as a base for a gang that had been terrorising residents of Lolwe, Mambo Leo, Ogango and nearby neighbourhoods under the cover of darkness. Local communities had grown increasingly anxious about the group’s activities, which prompted sustained surveillance and eventual action by the police. The successful raid has brought a measure of relief to the affected areas.

During the search of the premises, officers recovered an assortment of weapons that the suspects are believed to have used in their operations. The items seized included two knives, one sword and two wooden clubs. These weapons have been carefully secured as exhibits to support the ongoing investigations and any subsequent court proceedings.

All five individuals were immediately escorted to Migosi Police Station, where they remain in custody pending formal processing and eventual arraignment. Detectives are expected to dig deeper into the gang’s network, possible links to other crimes in the region and any additional members who may still be at large. The recovery of the weapons has strengthened the case against the arrested suspects.

Authorities have hailed the operation as a positive step towards improving safety in Kisumu East and surrounding localities.
